You Don’t Need Permission… But Here It Is Anyway

Let me be blunt.

If you’ve ever felt selfish for wanting to train, eat better, or get your energy back… you’ve been lied to.

Somewhere along the way, we picked up this idea that time for ourselves has to be earned. That rest is a reward. That exercise is something you do only if there’s time left after everything else.

Parents feel it. Business owners feel it. Caregivers feel it. But the weight seems to fall especially hard on women.

They carry everyone else’s needs first. And when they finally hit a breaking point? They still feel bad for asking for help. Like looking after themselves is some kind of luxury.

Why Self-Care Isn’t Selfish

I see this all the time in the gym. Mums who’ve spent years running around after their kids. Dads who’ve thrown everything into work. People who walk in completely burned out and still apologising for wanting to feel better.

Here’s the truth: you are allowed to make this about you.

You’re allowed to block out time for your training.
You’re allowed to care about what you eat.
You’re allowed to want to feel stronger, sharper, sexier without needing to justify it to anyone.

Because when you feel better, everything gets better. You’re more patient. Less stressed. You don’t just survive the day… you actually drive it.

Not Everyone Will Clap for You

But here’s the part no one tells you: not everyone’s going to cheer you on.

In fact, some people in your life might get a bit weird when you start putting yourself first. You start eating better, moving more, setting boundaries and suddenly there’s tension.

You’ll hear the comments:
“Don’t go losing too much weight.”
“Oh, look at you being healthy.”
“You’ve changed.”

Yeah. You have. That’s the point.

The thing is, it’s not about you making them feel bad… it’s about them not being ready to make those changes themselves.

Like James Smith says: If someone doesn’t support your growth, they’re showing you their limits, not yours.

Here’s Your Permission Slip

You don’t need their permission.
You don’t need to explain your choices.
You don’t even need them to understand.

You just need to keep going.

Because this isn’t just a training plan.
This is your permission slip.

To show up for yourself and not feel bad about it.

And if no one else in your life gets it? That’s exactly what we’re here for.
