Some members don’t need to be the loudest in the room to make a huge impact. Rachel is one of those people. Friendly, determined, and incredibly consistent. She shows up, listens, learns, and inspires everyone around her.
Rachel’s journey with Function Fitness started a few years ago, back in the boot camp days when Lou first ran the gym. After a little break, she came back with a simple but powerful goal: to commit properly to her fitness and make it part of her life.
“I wanted to be a bit more committed to getting fit rather than just running when I felt like it.”
And commit she did!
When Rachel returned, her goals were clear: get fitter, get stronger, and feel better by exercising consistently. What started as just “getting in shape” quickly grew into something much bigger.
Through classes and personal training, Rachel has built strength, tackled new skills, improved her nutrition, and boosted her mental well-being.
“I first joined to just improve my fitness, but as the months have gone on and having PT, my goals have changed. I now have more specific goals around strength, learning new skills, nutrition, and mental well-being.”
Rachel’s dedication this year has been nothing short of incredible. She’s hit our Committed Club every month, completing 12+ sessions each month, earning herself a well-deserved Committed Club T-shirt. That’s 12 months of showing up, working hard, and leveling up month after month, without missing a beat.
“I want to keep turning up and get my 12-month streak for another year. Keep improving, learning new skills, and leveling up.”
Of course, it hasn’t all been easy. Some moves, like doubleunders, still frustrate her.
“I get frustrated at not being able to do certain moves (doubleunders!!!)”
But Rachel doesn’t let that hold her back. She listens to advice, applies it, and keeps showing up, determined, consistent, and with a positive attitude.

For her, the gym is more than just workouts. It’s the community, the support, and the laughs along the way.
“Just try it, it’s like no other gym. It’s not a chore to go, you’ll genuinely love it and look forward to going. Everyone can work at their own level. You’ll make amazing friends, and it’s not just about physical fitness, it really helps your mental well-being too.”
