Two years ago, Tia nearly cancelled her introduction to Function Fitness.
It's hard to imagine now.
If you've ever trained alongside her, you'll know she's usually in the middle of the conversation, cheering people on, having a laugh, and bringing energy to the room.
But before joining, she was nervous.
She'd seen people recommending Function Fitness and wanted to make a change, but actually turning up felt like a huge step.
Thankfully, she made it to that first meeting.
Looking back now, she describes it as the moment her life changed.
Like many people, Tia originally joined with one goal in mind: lose weight.
But it didn't take long for her to realise she was gaining much more than that.
She got stronger.
Her stamina improved.
Her flexibility improved.
And perhaps most unexpectedly, her confidence grew too.
It changed the way she saw herself.
As Tia puts it:
"From weak and shy to loud and proud."
That might be the best summary of her journey there is.
One of the things Tia loves most about training is discovering what she's capable of.
And she still seems surprised by it.
Two years ago, she never imagined she'd be lifting heavy weights or squatting as low as she can now.
Then there was the moment she realised she could skip.
"I couldn't even lift my feet off the floor and now I'm skipping?!"
It's funny, but it's also what her journey has been about from the very beginning.
Doing things she never thought she could do.
Then doing a little bit more.
Ask Tia what has helped her most and the answer comes quickly.
"The coaches and the other gym members. They are what makes Function Fitness."
For her, the people are everything.
The support.
The encouragement.
The feeling that someone always has your back.
It's why Function Fitness quickly became more than somewhere she worked out.
It became somewhere she genuinely wanted to be.
There have been challenges along the way.
Like many people, Tia has had times where her nutrition slipped or her focus drifted.
But instead of giving up, she kept coming back.
Because every session reminded her why she started.
And over time, something changed.
Function Fitness stopped feeling like somewhere she went.
It started feeling like somewhere she belonged.
Today, she describes it as her second home.
She even says she looks forward to going to the gym.
Her words:
"Who am I?"
Tia still has goals.
She wants to keep losing weight.
Keep getting fitter.
Keep getting stronger.
And she's genuinely excited about what's still to come.
Because she knows now that she's capable of far more than she once believed.
Sometimes the biggest transformations aren't the ones you can measure.
They're the ones you feel.
The woman who nearly cancelled her introduction now can't imagine life without Function Fitness.
The person who was scared to start found confidence, friendships, strength, and a community that feels like family.
And perhaps the best part is that she still seems slightly surprised by all of it.
"Who am I?"
You're Tia.
And we're very glad you came to that first meeting.
We're incredibly proud of you 🧡
