Rebuilding Strength Over Time: Vicky’s Journey at Function Fitness

A Difficult Starting Point

When Vicky first walked back into Function Fitness four years ago, it was not with confidence. It was with frustration, discomfort, and a body that did not feel like it was on her side.

A bad back, painful knees, and a frozen shoulder meant even starting again felt like a big step.

But she did it anyway.

Rebuilding From the Basics

“I just wanted to stop feeling like my body was working against me.”

That was the focus at the start.

Everything was adapted. Movements were scaled. Some days looked very different to others. But she kept showing up.

The Shift That Changed Everything

Then something started to change.

Not suddenly, but quietly, through consistency.

Movements felt a little easier. Confidence started to build. Training stopped feeling like a battle.

“I’ve never been this strong in my life.”

That shift from “I can’t” to “I can’t… yet” became the turning point.

Progress That Built Over Time

Over the last 18 months, Vicky has lost an incredible 5½ stone.

With support from nutrition changes and Mounjaro, her body changed significantly. But what stands out just as much is what she built in the gym alongside it.

She kept turning up. Kept adapting when needed. Kept going even when it was not perfect.

“I still can’t quite believe the person I see in the mirror.”

And that confidence has grown right alongside her strength.

Milestones That Matter

The biggest moment was not a lift or a number.

“The biggest shining moment was when I realised how strong I’d become.”

And it was not just one moment. It was lots of small ones. Sessions that used to feel difficult became manageable. Movements that once felt intimidating became normal.

That is where real change happened.

What Comes Next

Now the focus is simple: build strength.

Push press. Overhead confidence. Press-ups. Pull-ups. Box jumps.

What used to feel out of reach now just feels like work in progress.

Advice From Experience

“If you’re worried about not being fit enough, strong enough, or injury-free enough, then don’t hesitate.”

Vicky started exactly there.

What made the difference was not being “ready”, but having support, structure, and a place where she could adapt and keep going.

A Journey Built Step by Step

Four years on, this is not a transformation story.

It is a consistency story.

Step by step. Session by session. Win by win.

From feeling like her body was working against her, to now feeling stronger, capable, and in control again.

And that is what makes it so powerful.

Vicky, you built this. And it shows. 🧡
