What I Ate On Holiday (And Why It Doesn’t Really Matter)

Here’s the truth: no one needs to know exactly what I ate on holiday.
But I’ll tell you anyway, because it’s probably not what you’d expect from a nutrition coach.

Yes, I had pizza.
Yes, there were ice creams.
And yes, mojitos were involved (more than one).

But I also had freshly made omelettes every morning.
I drank more water than usual.
I ate a lot of watermelon.

And I didn’t track a single thing.

Because I was on holiday. And holidays are not about food guilt or “being good.”

A holiday isn’t a test

I didn’t bring protein bars in my suitcase.
I didn’t panic over the all-inclusive buffet options.
And I didn’t tell myself I’d “start again Monday.”

You know why? Because I don’t live in that all-or-nothing mindset anymore.
And I don’t want you to either.

You can enjoy your time away without needing to “earn” it beforehand or “fix” it afterwards.

Yes, I’ve probably come home a couple of pounds heavier.
But it’s not fat gain, it’s likely just a mix of water retention, more salt, a bit less sleep, a bit more food, and, let’s be honest, a different pace of life.

Nothing extreme. Nothing that needs “undoing.”
Just a temporary shift that balances out once I’m back into my usual routine.

What balance actually looks like

So many women I coach have spent decades swinging between two ends of a pendulum:

Restrict everything → eventually cave → eat everything → feel terrible → restrict again.

It’s exhausting.
It turns food into something we’re constantly battling with.
And it makes holidays, which should be joyful and relaxing, feel like something we have to brace ourselves for.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Finding balance means learning to trust yourself with food.
It means recognising that one week out of your normal routine doesn’t ruin anything.
And it means letting go of perfection.

I didn’t “stick to a plan” on holiday.
I didn’t go off the rails either.
I just… lived. Ate what I fancied. Moved when it felt good. Rested when I needed it.

And now I’m home, I’m back to my normal routines. Protein-rich meals. Veggies. Movement. Hydration. Sleep.

No punishment. No guilt. Just… normal.

Ready to stop stressing about food all the time?

If you’ve spent years feeling like food controls you, especially when you’re out of routine, maybe it’s time to try a different approach.

No more quick fixes. No more “back on it Monday.” Just a balanced, sustainable way to eat that lets you live your life fully - with pizza and watermelon.

If that sounds like what you need, let’s chat.
