Hey, I’m Charlie—owner of Function Fitness here in Torrington. We built this gym inside an old school building after COVID, turning it into a space full of life, energy, and purpose. Torrington’s a bit of a forgotten town, but that’s exactly why I wanted to create something special here. We’re not chasing trends—we’re building community.
Outside the gym, I’m a husband and a dad to two young kids. I know what it’s like trying to stay fit when life’s full-on, time is tight, and energy’s low. That’s why everything we do at Function Fitness is built around real people, real schedules, and long-term progress—not quick fixes or pressure to be perfect.
The real shift came when I stopped trying to fit the mould of what a gym “should” look like. I realised my job wasn’t just to coach workouts—it was to give people in this town a reason to believe in themselves again. Whether it’s someone’s first squat or their hundredth, those moments of progress matter.
I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel seen, challenged, and supported—especially those who’ve never felt like they belonged in a gym. Around here, we focus on movements over muscle—not because muscle doesn’t matter (it absolutely does), but because we care more about why you’re getting strong. Not for ego. Not for likes. But because building muscle is one of the most powerful ways to change how you feel, move, and live. And of course, you'll start to look better too. That’s just a bonus.
